Italian Bike Week

Nearly 50,000 motorcyclists, tourists and enthusiasts attended the Italian Bike Week festival held in Italy in mid-September 2023.

The second edition of this end-of-summer motorcycle event, took place in Lignano Sabbiadoro (Udine-Italy) from 14th to 17th September 2023. After the big success of 2022, bikers from all over Italy, Europe and Scandinavia rode to Lignano, the ‘Italian Florida’, according to the American writer Ernest Hemingway.

Born as a Biker Fest International’s spin-off, the Italian Bike Week retained a close link to the world of customisation, but introduced a strong focus on the Adventure and Off-Road sectors.

The Demo Ride Area turned the spotlight on the ‘dirt’ side of motorcycling, with more than 1200 free tests carried out during the weekend by 14 brands.

This successor of an event that has been bringing the best of international Kustom Culture to Italy since 1986, the IBW conducted a Custom Bike Show that hosted both a round of the Italian Motorcycle Championship (IMC) and the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building, the prestigious ‘world championship’ dedicated to special bike manufacturers. Brescia-based Gallery Motorcycles won the ‘Best in Show’ prize with a fabulous Harley-Davidson JD.

Saturday was the time for the fourth Mods Meet Rockers, reunion of vintage scooters and mopeds that was attended by many fans of vintage Vespas and Lambrettas.

On the same afternoon was the Pin Up Contest: the fifties-style girls were also the co-stars of the US Car on the Beach, American car meeting that attracted more than 200 cars. Under the direction of Cruisin’ Magazine and Old School Garage, it welcomed several American Car Clubs from Italy and abroad, as well as many independent participants.

“There are many events that focus on Adventure and Off Road biking, but all of them have a racing or even competitive imprint,” explained IBW organiser, Micke Persello. “What has been missing is a touring event dedicated to these sectors, which accounts for 50 percent of the market.”

Next year’s event is scheduled for May 2024, with the 38th edition of Biker Fest International.
